Mayor of Bryn Mawr

There is a little man who rides around my town on an adult sized tricycle waving at people and announcing himself as "The Mayor of Bryn Mawr". My roommate has told me about him and I had only seen him once since she mentioned him. He was standing on a corner by a pizza place at the intersection by the Wawa and the hospital.

Well, last Wednesday, I was on my way to Gulifty's and stopped at the Wawa to hit the ATM (it's free there for those of you who have not been blessed to have a Wawa near you). As I walked out of the store, this same little man was in the parking lot talking to the patrons. Wouldn't you know, the moment I walked out the man walked away from the people he was talking to and announced "I cannot believe what I am seeing", as he headed my way, "I am seeing Miss America and Miss Universe at the same time!"

Obviously, I have never been identified as neither 'Miss America' nor 'Miss Universe', so I just smiled at him (knowing full well who he was) and said, "It's very nice to meet you." To which he responded, "I am Carl and I am the Mayor of Bryn Mawr." So, I told him that of course I knew who he was because he was very famous and it was an honor to finally meet him.

He kept telling me how happy he was to meet me in person, that he could not believe how beautiful I was, and kept telling me he needed to step back and look at me. I figured he had to be harmless because everyone knows about this man and the authorites don't keep him off the street, so I gave him a hug and told him I was honored to meet the mayor.

It's funny. I get the nicest compliment in the world and I can't take it seriously because it comes from a confused man who rides a tricycle.
