Tracie, Just Tracie

Because I miss my friends who are now all over the country (and globe) I decided to follow the crowd and let you know what I am up to without overcrowding inboxes with mass emails (which no one likes anyway). This is nothing spectacular. It is just my thoughts on life and things I have been doing to keep myself busy and entertained.

I Cannot Sleep

I can't sleep, so I figured I would put some updates on here. So much has happened in the last few days that it is hard to know where to start

Thursday (4/26)- Went to the Phils/Nats game with my vendor friend and his company. I still did not have my vision back completely so his recruiter came to my work to pick me up and take me there and home. The game was a ton of fun, even if the Phils lost. I seriously cannot think of any details that are important enough to write, just that it was a ton of fun.

Friday (4/27)- Had the vision back almost 100% so I was going to attempt driving into work (probably a bad idea) but then the friend from work who had been driving me all week called that morning to see if I needed a ride (such a nice guy) so I took him up on it. About half way there I had to thank him for about the 5th time that morning because I realized that my vision was in NO WAY ready for me to drive. After work a friend from church picked me up and took me over to 20something (the singles group I am part of) and after 20something 2 other friends took me home... but we stopped at Gulifty's first because I really wanted a beer.

Talk about sensory overload! The place has about 10 or so TV's in the bar area and they had a different baseball game playing on every TV!! I had no idea which game to watch... until I saw the White Sox were on one of the TV's. I must have been a sight for everyone in the bar to see because at one point someone (I'm assuming a manager) attempted to change the channel away from the Sox game. I couldn't stand it so I got up and yelled "Oh no! Someone is trying to change my game!" Then ran to the bar to find my bartender (Kelly) and said, "Kelly! You've got to stop this! Someone is changing my game!" Fortunately, Kelly came to my rescue and got my game back.
Then in the 9th inning Ozzie went and put Aardsma in to close. I was so upset because the guy a week earlier had totally ruined a sure win against the Tigers and he was about to do the same thing. The week before the Sox were up 3 and then Aardsma came in in the 9th to close and he ended up letting 3 runs in sending the game into 12 innings where they finally lost. This time he was about to do the same because he kept walking people and letting the batters hit his ball. Fortunately, my guys in the field were about to defend any potential runs and the Sox won... but it was a close one. I kept yelling at the TV (seriously). People in the bar were laughing at me but I didn't care. One guy who was sitting across from me was watching the Yankees/Red Sox game and admitted he was feeling the same thing because his team was losing (the Yankees).

Saturday (4/28)- Had vision back 100% this time!! Went to the Philadelphia Food Bank (Philabundance) and sorted food all morning. It was a good time. The woman who directed the sorting was a Hispanic woman named Maria and she was really really funny... but I think she was trying to be serious but she made me laugh anyway.

Later that evening I went to my 10 year high school reunion. Crazy. I didn't really want to go but then it turned out to be in my town (close enough that I could walk to it) so I figured I did not have an excuse. You know what? I actually had fun and am very glad that I went. What is even stranger is that I got phone numbers from people that I NEVER talked to in high school and made plans to hang out. It was really crazy.

I was one of 5 people left in the bar by the end so Desiree (one of the people with whom I reconnected) and I left and went to IHOP. It was a good time.

Sunday (4/29)- Taught Sunday School then went to the gym but realized that I had forgotten to combination to my pad lock. After I sat in the parking lot for a while trying to figure it out I decided that it was such a nice day that I should go home and take a walk around my neighborhood instead. Well, I got home and a friend called. After talking with him I decided to walk to Gulifty's to watch some baseball and get something to eat. So, I walked about 5 miles and was very proud of myself.

Fortunately, for me, the White Sox were on again and unfortunately, Aardsma was back on the mound... but I did not get so upset this time.

After the check finally came I walked back home, grabbed my car and went to church. The service was a little disappointing because I ended up exhausting myself that day and could barely stay awake but mostly because my pastor ended up giving the same exact message he gave at our leadership team training a couple weeks prior.

By the end I was ready to get home so I left and stopped to get gas (BTW- gas prices are insane!!). Guess who was getting gas at the pump next to me???
It was an icecream truck!! So, I asked him if I could get some ice cream and he said "Sure! just come around to the window."

How funny is that to stop for gas a pick up a drum stick from the guy at the next pump?

Monday (4/30)- Completely overslept by an hour but somehow still made it to work on time. Came home, made dinner, watched TV, talked to a couple friends and went to bed. But here it is 1:00 in the morning and I cannot sleep so I am updating my blog. I fear insomnia is here since I woke up super early on Sunday morning, had a hard time getting to sleep last night and on Thursday night and now tonight too.

I think I just have too much on my mind.
