Sunday School
Have I mentioned that I am teaching 2 year Sunday School at my church's 11:00 service?
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying those kids. They are so sweet and cute and funny! I go to work every Monday with stories about my two's to entertain anyone who will listen.
One day, this little boy, Torin, showed me a scratch on his belly. Before I could ask, he told me a bear bit him. I asked if it was a teddy bear or a big bear in the forrest and he assured me it was a big bear in the forrest. When his dad came to pick him up (his dad is HOT by the way oh, and his mom is beautiful too). But anyway, when his dad came to pick him up I told him about the big bear in the forrest so he asked Torin about it. Torin just said, "Yeah, a big bear in the forrest came up and bit me." So, his dad asked him when he was in the forrest and he looked at his dad as if he was insane and just said very matter of factly, "Yesterday." Like, Duh Dad. Where were you?
He's such a cute kid too. So well behaved. He does everything he's told, even when he doesn't want to do it. He is so cute when he prays too. He's the only child who folds his hands and 'closes' his eyes (you know the squinting that says 'my eyes are really open but you think they are closed') and prays right along with us. Too cute. at snack time, all the kids will finish their snack and want more as soon as their napkin is empty, so we ask Torin and he says, "Not yet. I'm not done chewing."
Then, there is this other little boy, Caleb. Last week I commented on how nicely he was dressed and said, "your mommy did a very nice job dressing you today." He quickly corrected me by telling me, "My Mommy didn't dress me. My Daddy did." I should have known better. His daddy is the one who always picks him up, so I apologized and tried to reason with a toddler that I really should have known better. You know what? He then started to LAUGH at me and said "No! My Mommy dressed me."
You know I told his dad about that when he picked him up. He laughed so hard and said I really should have known better than to think that he would have dressed his son.
I'll write about some of the other kids later, because each one has a story I could write about and I don't want to bore you with stories about toddlers that mean nothing to you. I mean, if they were my actual children, it would be different. I'd expect you to care about them, but these are children I see for about 2 hours every week.
Oh! Another thing is that I get to sing with them. What I love most is asking them what songs they want to sing. We always get the standard requests of "The B I B L E", or "Jesus Loves Me" but I get surprised on occasion with "Jesus Loves the Little Children" or "I've got the Joy Joy Joy" (which always sounds like 'doy doy doy')
So cute. So incredibley cute.
