So Much!
I know. I know. It's been forever since I updated this thing. You would not believe how crazy busy I have been lately. The only reason I am updating anything now is because my work email is down. Yeah. It's 9:00 at night.
So, work is good. I'm loving my job.
This past weekend, Trista and my Aunt Moni came out to celebrate my mom's 50th birthday! We had such a great time.
On Friday, I took off of work and we all went to Jersey. We stopped at an adorable tea house in Mulica Hill. Oh my gosh! We had such a great time. We had little sandwiches and each of us got a diffent pot of flavored tea. My choice was French Vanilla... very good by the way. The owner let us put on her silly hats and feather boas, beads and gloves! Talk about fun! We took so many pictures, which I will post as soon as I can.
After the tea house, we went down the road to a bridal boutique and tried on bride's maids dresses! Jamie found the exact dress she had envisioned for the girls to wear. They are tea length chocolate strapless dresses with a lace overlay. Thankfully, they are A-line dresses so will flatter all body types too! Trista and I approved so it looks like that is going to be the dress.
Then we went on to Ocean City and just did a lot of shopping around the town.
On Saturday we painted pottery. My mom chose little square 'platters' to paint because she thought they would make good tea bag holders. So, we each painted one for her. It was amazing how 5 completely different designs could be made!
That afternoon we went back to Pennsylvania and surprised my mom by having a bunch of cows in the front yard with a HUGE sign that read "Holy COW! Roxanne is 50!!"
Then we just went to dinner, came back, had cake and sat around for awhile. By 9:30 I was exhausted and went home.
Good weekend.
I guess I forgot to say that I did not know when everyone was coming in, for how long, or any of the details (even though I asked several times). So, I had a date on Thursday night. While I was at work that afternoon, Jamie called me to ask me to make a cake for mom's birthday because they were going to celebrate that evening. I told her I couldn't and expressed that I wished I knew the plans because I had plans I couldn't cancel (mostly because I didn't want to). That night I mentioned that to my date and he said "You blew off your mom's 50th birthday party??" I had to explain that I did, but not really since it was not planned until 2:00 that afternoon and that her birthday is really on Saturday. I like to think that that would be a funny story to share at our wedding reception. Yeah, I liked him that much... but we shall see.
