Tracie, Just Tracie

Because I miss my friends who are now all over the country (and globe) I decided to follow the crowd and let you know what I am up to without overcrowding inboxes with mass emails (which no one likes anyway). This is nothing spectacular. It is just my thoughts on life and things I have been doing to keep myself busy and entertained.

Let's See

I'm thinking I have stuff to update, but part of me is thinking that my life is not all that exciting... and then I remember everything that is going on!

1- The date with Tim went very well. I'm sure I'll hear from him again, but I am not about to sit by the phone either. He's the kind of guy who will call randomly to see if we can get together, but not make plans until moments before we are supposed to meet. My friend, Maggie from work, told me to expect him to call by the end of the weekend, but I told her I doubt that will happen and I don't think that is a negative sign either.

2- I have another date on Wednesday. This one is with a guy named Eric. He's a youth pastor, but pays the bills by working in insurance.

3- Work is becoming a pain and I know there is no opportunity for me to grow in my position or to advance in the company, so I've been looking for another job. I want to stay in recruiting... just don't know in what area. Right now I am in IT staffing, and I like that, but wonder if I wouldn't like health care, office, or even accounting/finance staffing. All I know is that I eventually want to get into HR and all of the HR positions I've looked at ask for recruiting background.

So far, Maggie quit on Thursday and Paul quit on Friday. That leaves me all alone there, so I know looking for another job is not going to be easy, but I am sure it will not be impossible.

4- I taught Sunday school this morning and my kids were adorable as usual. I found out that one little boy, Jimmy, who I have never heard speak before, is an absolute genious! I was told that he has a map of the US on a wall at his house and he can identify all of the states. One day, one woman was over and she was from Chicago. The nest time Jimmy saw her, he took her to his map and showed her where she was from! Amazing. And to think that this is the child that just 2 weeks ago we were monitoring to see if he'd had a bowel movement yet.

This afternoon, I was at home checking email, when my pastor called me to say that a nursery volunteer for the evening service was unable to make it and asked if I would fill in. Of course I did, but we ended up just having one little boy named Van. He left at about 7 and I figured church was over, so I closed everything up only to find that the guest speaker was still talking! I listened for a little while, but my legs were hurting horribly, so I decided to come home instead.

5- I've been sleeping on an aerobed and I love it! It is very comfortable and convenient. Well, last week it developed a hole! It was terrible. So, I bought some duct tape hoping that I could find the hole and salvage the bed so that I wouldn't have to buy a real bed (they can be expensive and I'd really rather not spend the money on one). Fortunately, I found the hole but unfortunately, the tape did not fixt the problem. I still woke up every few hours to an deflating bed and needed to fill it up several times a night.

Well, after church this morning, I stopped at K-Mart and picked up a bicylce tire repair kit ($1.99) and was able to fix the hole! I took a nap this afternoon and the bed has not deflated yet!! That saved me a TON of money!

6- My grandpa is in town, visiting from Wichita. I spent yesterday at my parents house and last night we went to a spaghetti dinner/fundraiser at my church. That was a ton of fun! Admission was free, you just needed to bring a dessert for a dessert auction that night. So, I made a pineapple upside down cake and a chocolate cake (I figured I was bringing 6 people, so I'd better make it worth 6 free dinners). My desserts ended up raising $95 for the youth group missions trips! I also have to admit that my pineapple upside down cake looked really really really good.

I think that is everything so I am going to see if I can find out if there is a baseball game on. I love baseball!
