Baseball updates and whatever else I end up typing
Last night I went to see the Phillies play the Brewers. It was raining SOOO hard but I went anyway, hoping that it would let up. All I can say is that I am so glad I made the trip to the stadium. The game was incredible and I even got a Ryan Howard bobble head! (It is now sitting on my desk)
Cole Hamels (pitcher for the Phillies) threw a near perfect game. It was amazing to watch. What I mean is that he had a perfect game (no hitter and no man on base) through 6 innings. Then in the 7th he ended up walking someone to put him on base. Right after that batter, JJ Hardy got up to bat. At that point I turned to my friend, Todd (AKA- The Notorious T.O.D.) and told him that if anyone could ruin this game for Hamels it would be that guy. I must have jinxed it because no sooner did the words come out of my mouth did he hit the ball right out of the park! The Brewers then got 2 runs as a result.
A fun/funny part of the evening was that every time Chase Utley (2nd base for the Phils) or JJ Hardy (short stop for the Brewers) got up to bat I told Todd he needed to stop talking to me and distracting me because the pretty man was up to bat (and we were close enough to see how pretty they were).
In the end, I was very proud of the Phils because they were able to win 3 consecutive games against the Brewers, the team with the BEST record in baseball this year. Unfortunately, they were not so lucky in this afternoon's game... but as much as it pains me to say it... I think that is Garcia's fault. He is just not doing as well for the Phillies as he had done with the White Sox.
Speaking of the White Sox, one of my vendors gave me 5 tickets for the game when they come to Philly on 6/13. Not only did he give me tickets, he gave me fantastic seats that are right along the 3rd base line... and not just on the 3rd base line, they are front row!!
That is great for me because I seriously think that Joe Crede (White Sox 3rd baseman) is the most underrated player in baseball. Dan and Trista had given me a White Sox t-shirt with Crede's number on it, so I might even wear it to the game that day... even if it is a size or 2 too big.
Right now, I need to leave to meet that guy for that date. I'm neither nervous nor excited and I don't mind. I am more confused why he called me again 3 months later and cannot wait to find out his reasons... not that I intend to grill him about it either.
