Tracie, Just Tracie

Because I miss my friends who are now all over the country (and globe) I decided to follow the crowd and let you know what I am up to without overcrowding inboxes with mass emails (which no one likes anyway). This is nothing spectacular. It is just my thoughts on life and things I have been doing to keep myself busy and entertained.

Superman

The guy I work with had a birthday on New Year's Eve. So, in true Tracie fashion, I made him a birthday cake to give him when we got back in the office. I decided to make him a Superman cake because I got to use a tip that would make really cool hair. My other option was Batman and I just couldn't give Batman hair and the cake would have to have been a drap grey color. Who wants that?

The cake turned out pretty well. Paul liked it and showed it to people all day long! He took pictures of it with his phone that he was trying to send to his wife but it wouldn't work. So, he had to take the phone to Verizon to get worked on.

The next day, he came into my office and very seriously said, "Tracie, I want you to know that this is going to be our last year working here." We have a contract with the company and it is always a possibility that we will lose the contract, so I believed him and was slightly upset, but not too upset because I know the nature of the business. Well, then he added, "We are going to leave this company so that you can make those cakes and I can market them for you. That Superman cake was a hit! Jackie (his wife) was raving about it all night. Then, when I went to pick my phone up from Verizon, the tech told me he didn't know what my problem was with sending pictures because he sent that Superman cake to his own phone and to a couple friends' phones."

I'll take the compliment, but am rather glad I don't need to give up a job I love to bake and decorate cakes for a living (no matter how much I enjoy that).

I am posting a couple pictures of the cake. I took a picture at all angles, but I'm only going to post a couple of them. Paul turned 31 on the 31st, making it his golden birthday, so I put little golden 31's all over the sides of the cake. I thought it was cute.
