Workaholic

Hello. My name is Tracie and I'm a workaholic.

This week I was told that I need to use all of my vacation days by the end of the year. Well, I have not had vacation days in 3 or 4 years so I have not had to take a vacation. Also, I only 'officially' became hired on October 1 so I didn't think I'd have any to use.

I was wrong. I have 3 vacation days I need to use by the end of the year. I don't like that. I don't have anywhere I want to go in December nor can I afford to go anywhere for 3 days.

So, I decided to take my days during Christmas week since Trista and Dan will be home (though I expect they will have much more important things to do than hang out with me during that time). Well, as I was writing up my request for days I actually started to panic at the thought of being away from work for 4 days (4 because 1 of the days that week will be Christmas). I could not believe it! Have I become so addicted to my job that I cannot take some time away? Everything will be here when I return. Nothing is going to fall apart. Paul is taking the week off too so the Galaxy office will be closed. But do you know what? The thought that comforted me was knowing that I would at least have my laptop with me so I could check in on how things were going.

I think I need a vacation!
