I'll Call This Owen
So, in September I met this guy named Owen. He seemed really cool so I agreed to go out on a date with him. Well, then he started to get persistant and started to wierd me out and I didn't want to go on the date anymore. It was seriously to the point where I was sick thinking about actually going on this date.
I was about to call him to cancel and that thought made me even more sick than the thought of going out with him because I figured that would mean he'd continue pursuing until I finally went out with him. So, I decided that I would just go on the date so that I could tell him it was not going to work out.
So, the day of the date came and you know what? I had a really good time! The only problem with the date was that people kept staring at us. Owen pointed out that if I was to actually date him, that would be the response we would get any where we went.
It's about 2 months later and I'm still dating him! Funny, huh?
We were taking it really slow at first because I told him that I needed to get used to the idea of dating him. I never had an issue with the race thing, the only thing that caused me concern was the age difference as he is 39 and I'm 30. I told him that I was having a hard time with that because he was getting ready to leave his 30's while mine were just beginning, but I wanted to be sure that what I was feeling was not based on a number. So, we continued to get to know eachother and I was finally able to say that I am okay with the age difference. He may be 39, but he does not look it or even act like he's older than me either. I like that.
One night we were watching a Knicks game (he's a NY sports fan... something I might need to work on since he lives in Pennsylvania now) and he commented that he misses the days when Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas played in the NBA. I was about to tell him how old I was when they were playing but I stopped and told him that I won't tell him how old I was when they played. He laughed and told me that I was probably in diapers. (I wasn't)
Anyway, he's a good guy and I like him. We'll see where it goes.
