Tracie, Just Tracie

Because I miss my friends who are now all over the country (and globe) I decided to follow the crowd and let you know what I am up to without overcrowding inboxes with mass emails (which no one likes anyway). This is nothing spectacular. It is just my thoughts on life and things I have been doing to keep myself busy and entertained.

Just Some Updates

Okay. Where should I begin?

This past weekend was HECTIC!

First of all, I should say that I was pretty sick starting Thursday. So sick that I needed to cancel an appointment with a personal trainer and stay home to sleep. I'll get to the personal trainer update later.

Well, Laura came down on Friday to spend the weekend with me and my parents in Ocean City, NJ (where my mom and dad have a house). BUT Karen came out to Philly on Friday and just happened to stay at a hotel RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD from where I live!! Seriously, I could have walked there. In fact, I did walk there all the time while I was growing up. (It's right next to the mall and the hotel was not built until I was 21). So, since she was in town I could not leave Pennsylvania without seeing her! She didn't get to her hotel until about 10:30 that night when I picked her up and we went to the bar down the block from me (where I sang karaoke last week) and had a couple drinks. The bartender who made my East Coast Lei was not there and was not about to pull a Carol and train a new bartender so I just had a Yuengling (a local beer that is pretty darn good... pronounced Ying-Ling) I'm only mentioning that part because I wanted to mention a Yuengling. I dropped her back off at her hotel at around 1 or 1:30. I don't really remember what time.

Laura (Lola for those who do not know her college nickname) and I left for Ocean City the next morning. I slept in so we ended up leaving an hour later than I had hoped but I was sick and probably needed the sleep. (*NOTE* Drinking beer with an upset stomach is not generally a good idea.)

When we got to Ocean City, we all went out on the bar to go crabbing! Laura was unsure about it at first until she realized that it is not digging in the mud, like clamming, and does not involve a hook, like fishing. She was especially excited because she was the first to catch any! She caught the first 3!!

Later that night I took her to the boardwalk. That was fun too! I love walking the boardwalk and seeing the ocean at night. The moon looks so pretty reflecting on the waves!

Lola saw a Ferris Wheel and said that we should go on it. I reluctantly agreed. After it started I was so happy we went on it because the town looked so beautiful when it was lit up! I kept leaning over the car to see better and did not sit still!I told Laura that she should take a picture and that is when I realized that she was scared! It was so funny! You know I had to tease her because it was all her idea.

I had Lola walking all over town with me that day! I have taken to wearing a pedometer, because I am trying very hard to get more healthy, and saw that we walked over 10 miles! I really wore her out though. The next day she did not want to walk anywhere with me!

Yesterday, I finally met with a personal trainer! I am so excited! The trainer they are going to assign to me is named Bob and his dad has MS! He gets to work with me because he knows more about the disease than the other trainers at the gym. They all have to learn about the disease in school but since he experiences it through his dad, he understands it better. Makes sense to me. I am very excited about it! I am determined to lose at least 50 pounds or at least 3 dress sizes. That's probably a better way to view it. I'm doing it mostly because I want to be healthier and the training will be good for MS management. I mentioned to Bob that when I worked out before, I did not feel as much constant pain and he commented that exercizing regularly seems to slow down the "demyelenation" process of MS (the part where the brain's nerves deteriorate). They were running a special so I got a REALLY good deal. It is only $76 a month! That's one session a week for less than $20! I can afford that.
