Long Weekend
So, Thursday afternoon I met up with my onsite manager, Paul, and we drove up to our company's main office in North Jersey. There I got to meet all of the recruiters with whom I work but have never officially met. I also got to meet a couple of the office people.
At about 5, Paul and I checked into our hotel and one of the recruiters took us over to a bar in New Brunswick. It was a lot of fun getting to know everyone and putting faces with voices and emails.
Unfortunately the night did not end all that great but I won't go into details here. If you have my other blog, you can read it there.
I got back into work Friday afternoon (it took awhile to get to King of Prussia from Somerton). Then, my boss in NJ called me at 2:30 and told me there was no need for me to stay and told me I could go home. (That was very generous of him)
So, then I decided I was going to take it easy the rest of the day. I was supposed to go to the Jersey shore with 20something that night but figured I had an eventful enough Friday and would drive down the next day. So, I just stayed home and watched TV. But then my friend Shaun called me to ask how I was getting down to the shore and said there were people at the church who could give me a ride. So, since I hate to drive, I ran over to the church and got a ride with everyone.
The next day was hot but I was on the beach the entire day... probably to the detriment of my health but that is where everyone was. I saw my parents earlier that day (we were in Ocean City too) and my mom told me I had to be available that evening because Kenn was going to propose to Jamie and bring her back to OC. So, that evening when everyone went back to the campsite, I stayed behind to be "available". About 15 minutes after everyone left I got the call to meet Jamie on the board walk! She was so excited. I'm very happy for her.
After we met up with the newly engaged couple, mom and I went back to my hotel (I was not going to camp when it was so hot), cleaned up, grabbed my roommate and then met my dad for dinner. A good time was had by all.
This morning, everyone went to one of the beaches and we had a quick church service and 4 people got baptized in the ocean. Very cool. After that I was so hot and so stressed from being around people after my unfortunate Thursday that I needed to get home ASAP and got a ride with someone who was just as axious to get out of New Jersey.
Now, I'm sitting here updating my blog instead of getting ready to go to church tonight. I know I need to go. Jeb wants to talk to me and I have to track down my suitcase. I'm just really tired and looking forward to solitude right now. I don't want to sing and I am not ready for communion tonight.
